Udupi: Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Performs ‘Kattige Muhoorta’

Udupi, Jul 7: In preparation to his ascension to the Paryaya seat of Sri Krishna Mutt during next January, which signals the beginning of his two-year term of performing pujas to Lord Srikrishna, Sri Vishwavallabbhateertha Swamiji of Sode Mutt performed ‘Kattige Muhoorta’ at the auspicious time of 8.15 am on Thursday July 7. This will be the first Paryaya term for Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Swamiji.

After offering puja to the presiding deity of his Mutt, the Swamiji paid obeisance to Lord Chandramouleshwara, Lord Ananteshwara, Lord Srikrishna and Mukhyaprana before performing the Muhoorta near Madhwa Sarovar in the Mutt precincts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Swamiji said that Srikrishna Mutt has always been known for the free food offered to thousands of devotees every day. “Kattige Muhoorta signals the beginning of the process of accumulating firewood required during the next Paryaya period for preparing food to be distributed to the devotees. All the preparations for the upcoming Paryaya are being made,” he announced. He also sought the support and cooperation of everyone concerned during his Paryaya period.

Mutt Diwan, Padigar Srinivas Tantri, Madhvesh Tantri, Uday Tantri, municipal president, Kiran Kumar, vice-president, Bharati Chandrashekhar, Pradipkumar Kalkura, Raghunath Shet, Ratnakumar, Dr Krishnaprasad, Rajeshwar Singh Hospet, Harishchandra Burde, Latavya Acharya, Ravishankar Shet, Muralidhar Upadhya, Gopalakrishna, Seetaram Korangraapady and others were present.
