Mangalore: Port Employee Drowns at Panambur

Mangalore, Jul 7: A man working as dockhand in New Mangalore Port at Panambur here, died after falling into the sea and drowning on Tuesday July 5 night. He has been identified as Sunil Shetty, a resident of Kodical in the city.

Shetty had arrived at the port on Tuesday midnight along with colleagues, for anchoring a ship that had arrived at the port. He was aboard a boat, and was jumping to another boat, when he accidentally slipped and fell into the sea. His colleagues immediately lifted him out of water and admitted him into the port hospital.

However, he did not respond to treatments and breathed his last later. A report in this connection was registered in Panambur police station.
