The court, after noting that Ummer was sick, ordered for providing him treatment. Ummer was produced by the CID police led by Raviprakash, deputy superintendent of police.

Ummer was arrested on his arrival from the Gulf at Bangalore airport on July 4, on the basis of the confession purported to have been made by Madoor Yousuf, who is in custody, about Ummer’s involvement with the murder plan.  On being produced in the court on July 5, Ummer was remanded to two days police custody. It is said that the policemen failed to extract any important information from Ummer during his police custody.

Senior advocate, Purushottam Poojary, who appeared on behalf of Ummer, informed the court that Ummer has been suffering from asthma and stomach ache, and sought his hospitalization. Under the court orders, Ummer was admitted into Wenlock Hospital for treatment. In all probability he will be in the hospital till July 12, the period till which he has been remanded to judicial custody.

In the light of the allegations that the Madoor Yousuf gang zeroed in on Harish Rai for representing henchmen of Ravi Poojary gang in court cases, Harish Rai clarified that he has never appeared in the court on behalf of Ravi Poojary or his associates including Narayan Salian, as alleged.
