Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 8: A minor bridge located between Kinnimulky and Balaipade in the city crumbled on Thursday July 7. Accordingly, movement of heavy vehicles on this road has been banned.

In view of the above, the buses moving towards Mangalore have been asked by public works department and the district police, to move via Jodukatte, Brahmagiri and Amlalpady. Buses and other vehicles used to move on Kinnimulky-Balaipade road because of the highway widening work that is in progress on their regular route.

Because of the heavy movement of buses and other heavy vehicles since a month, this road has suffered heavy damages. With the crumbling of the minor bridge, it has been rendered unmotorable.

There has been a long-standing demand for concreting of this road. The citizens hope that the department will utilize this occasion to repair the minor bridge and build a concrete road on this wretched stretch.
