B'lore: Augustin Clinches Karnataka State under 25 Chess Ch’ship Title for Second Time

Bangalore, Jul 11: Karnataka State Under 25 Chess Championship 2011 conducted by Bangalore District Chess Association (Urban), under the auspices of United Karnataka Chess Association, concluded at State Youth center, Nrupathunga Road here on Sunday July 10.

Master Augustin A, a 14-year-old boy from Kodagu retained the title for the second consecutive year. Unbeaten Augustin defeated Sriram Sarja, top seed of the tournament in the sixth round and Balkishan A of Bangalore, third seed of the tournament to win the championship.

He scored full eight points out of eight rounds. Sameer Ghotane of Belgaum scored six and half points and became the runner-up of the championship.
