Mangalore, Jul 11:
A child labourer, identified as Bimalesh, aged between 10 to 13 years, has been rescued in a suprise raid operation jointly conducted by the labour, education, child-line and police department officers on Monday July 11.

Bimalesh, a native of Bihar, was employed by customs assistant commissioner A K Prasad’s wife at their apartment ‘Heritage’ near Barke police station.

Acting on a tip off, a team led by labour assistant commissioner Venkatesh Sindhihatti conducted a raid and rescued the minor. An ESI doctor who was present told mediapersons that the minor’s age may be between 10 to 13 years.

Prasad’s wife employed the minor labourer to take care of her children and made him work at home. It is gathered that the child has been working there for the past two months.

Venkatesh Sindhihatti later told mediapersons that the minor will be produced before the child welfare committee. Bimalesh told police that he was studying in Bihar, and was brought here and made to work. He also expressed his interest in continuing his education.

It is a shame to see that such a top well read govt officer flouting rules. The boy must have been paid a pittance for his work. The Customs department needs to take action on him for this serious lapse. The departments image is tarnished by such type of mean officers. What is the fate of the poor Boy?????

V Sindihatti looks very pleased with his accomplishment. Taking a well fed boy and suitably fed child from a home. His next resposibility should be to ensure that the child is kept in a good shelter and provided education.
Similarly, he should raid the roadside stalls where malnourished small children are working from dawn to dusk waiting on tables and washing dirty dishes. You see plenty of them on the road route from Mumbai to Mangalore.
Then we can really applaud him.

    Then he should

Dr. Srinivasan's observation is absolutely correct. That's the way Indian democratic system works. Even the Lokayukta, IT departments works on these Lines. You pay us, else we will raid you!!! In Mumbai, one of my friend received a call from the police, after catching the gangster, who threatened him for ransom, to pay the police half the amount of ransom, to encounter him.

The poor innocent boy looks so confused. He looks healthy, clean and well dressed which shows that the family employing him has been taking good care of him. The concerned authority should focus on children who are abused, made to work long hours, malnourished, exploited,... There are many families today who don't mind taking good care of someone who takes care of their kids, since both parents are working. Why should the authorities ruin such earning children when they have not been able to provide support and comfort to those exploited children whom they rescue.

Yeah all think they did a great job, but who will see to his day to day needs, again he is dumped in Bihar forget about the necessities what about daily bread who will give, his parents were fools to send a child to work in somebody's house they know he will get everything full and plenty and who know some wealthy people even send their domestic helpers to school and get them educated, these day its become a trend to rescue child labour but what next, then with no alternative left they take to robbing drugs and name it, what is better to work and when they work in good houses they pick up good things in life looking at others their way of living. Now take a break and stop this or find good place for these children home and education.

They Came! The celebrated! They took photograps and they left victorious. A day or two the poor boy will be neither here nor there. The social welfare, child laour and other related departments are only mockery to the democratic system. There are number of children who are working in houses, hotels and shops in Mangalore and same is the case across the country. The department also uses this weapon only to 'teach lessons' to their so called ememies. Even for the press, at the end of the day a big 'thamasha' and their circulation. God only can save us!

What is going on in Mangalore? Somebody tipped sleeping labor people & they wake up & took media persons with them to show their bravery job to the world. Because of poverty this minor boy is working in this house. Why these people once again throw him to hunger poverty. Nobody kidnapped him from Bihar to Mangalore. he came here by his own wish. What is meant by rescued? The employers are harassing this minor. What these people will do now. They will send him to Bihar & once again he will start his hasty life. After some time he will join nexal group. Dear labor people do some constructive work.

At least that boy getting good food n clothes, he also enjoying his life in his commissioner house, did they tortured that boy or beated him, ask that boy how they looking him in house.
There are so many children working in many houses, why action is not been taken. Boy is well dressed it seems they are taking care of the boy very well. All these drama's are created just for a show. Bluffing the public. Now one of the Labour, Child line or education officer take the child and keep him at his house for work.
He came joined 2months only over,Why they are planed send him school, want planed give education??? not finished 1-2 years, only 2months,I think that boy happy in commissioner house.

Everybody is right in their own point of view. The employer must have employed him just because he came in search for daily bread. I suspect that someone in the locality was not in good terms with the officer hence decided to teach him a lesson. As many people commented in this article, there are thousands of children working openly in restaurants, bars, etc. Eradicating child labour is a good move, but has anyone thought about the consequences? Where these children go who have no parents, no shelter, no food to eat? Let the govt make some good arrangements for them in the first place. If they are not given job and they remain idle, no doubt either they will become robbers or murderer or terrorists.

Nice photos and good publicity !
At least this boy was getting food clothing and shelter in commissioner's house that is taken away by authorities. Now what... after few days all these brave people who rescued the child will disappear leaving the boy to beg at the street which is more dangerouse than working in a house.

What a joke ! Surprise raid ? Why ? Near Bajpe Bus Stand if you go to any Bar, Restaurant you will find children as small as 8-10 years working as table boys for a meagre salary of Rs. 200-300 per month. There is no fixed working hours, no over time, no hygienic accommodation. Bimalesh has expressed his interest in continuing his education.....who will fulfill his dream ? Concerned 'surprise raid' depts. do not boast of surprise raids, but, go to Bajpe and you will find thousands of poor, little, innocent, helpless children whose future is at risk. Look at their dress and you will realise their working and living condition.
