Mangaluru: Truck transporting mud overturns, traffic affected on highway

Mangaluru, Jun 16: A truck that was carrying mud from Kaikamba to Mangaluru overturned on national highway 169 at Gurpur Vanabhojana area on Thursday evening as the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Traffic got affected for some time as the mud spilt over the road. It is said that the brakes of the vehicle failed. The vehicles plying through NH 169 were asked to take diversion through alternative routes via Gurupur Bangle Gudde – Bandesaale. Heavy vehicles moved through Vamanjoor-Pacchanady-Kavoor route.

The mud was removed through a JCB machine and the truck was also put straight using a crane and parked by the side of the highway. The operation went on till 7.45 pm.
