Udupi, Jun 22: "Prime minister Narendra Modi is a reformer and a performer," hailed C T Ravi, national chief secretary of BJP.
Addressing a program held in the district to commemorate the completion of nine years of Narendra Modi's rule on Thursday, June 22, Ravi expressed his admiration for the "prime minister's initiatives for the welfare of the people," emphasizing that "Modi never deceived or scammed the public."
"I am truly sorry for BJP's defeat in the state elections," Ravi admitted. "There are two types of politics: power and ideology. I have always chosen ideology, which became a reason for my failure. I have always followed Atal Bihari Vajpayee's saying, 'Never bow your head or run.' Although I may have been defeated in the election, I never lose as a worker because I consistently adhere to ideological politics."
Discussing the schemes implemented by PM Narendra Modi for the welfare of the people, Ravi pointed out the inclusive nature of these programs, irrespective of caste, creed, or gender. He contrasted this with the schemes brought forth by the Congress party, which, he claimed, were driven by political motives. Ravi also mentioned that BJP does not engage in dynastic politics and stated that the future will determine who will succeed Narendra Modi. He criticized a group for using a toolkit to undermine BJP at the central level, emphasizing that a BJP defeat is akin to a defeat for the country. Ravi also called on the Congress to fulfill all five guarantees and expressed his concerns about forceful conversions, advocating for a common civil code for India.
Former speaker Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri inaugurated the program and questioned the state government's decision to change the syllabus without consulting teachers, parents, students, or NCERT. He recommended holding meetings with subject matter experts and officials before making changes. Kageri highlighted the need for an Indian-based education system that values chapters and authors based on the positive impact on students. He urged teachers and parents to ensure that children learn the deleted chapters as well.
Kageri also requested the state government to fulfill all five guarantees unconditionally and refrain from blaming BJP for their failures. He suggested providing free bus rides for women on private buses. However, he cautioned that if the state government repeals the Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act and Prohibition of Conversion Act, protests would be organized against it.
Former home minister Araga Jnanendra, speaking at the event, expressed concern about the chief minister and deputy chief minister's alleged warning to police officials regarding saffron symbols, interpreting it as an anti-Hindu stance. Jnanendra, who served as the home minister earlier, urged the state government to carefully consider their actions, as they could potentially lead to violence.
The program commenced with a rendition of the national song, "Vande Mataram." Notable attendees included Kuilady Suresh Shetty, MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Keshava Prasad, Pramod Madwaraj, Uday Kumar Shetty, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, former MLAs Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, current MLAs Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Shetty Gurme, Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, and others.
