It is very tragic to hear of such incidents when they happen. In fact, every year we hear of such tragedies which could have been avoided. Children and young people should be educated of the dangers the sea, rivers, lake etc. pose during monsoon. Swimming should be taught in schools. Apart from that safety should also be taught and how to protect oneself. We cannot everytime blame it on fate. Our young people are the face of tomorrow, and we do protect them and guide them who will. My heartfelt sympathies to the family of the boy. May his soul rest in peace

Very tragic and unfortunate for the family members. Harshit having been aware that getting down into the lake could be hazardous, standing on the embankment and enjoying, and slipping and falling is real bad luck!! RIP Harshit!!

If anyone likes swimming let him go to a swimming pool and not lake river sea or any falls. Fate can take away your life anytime when you play with unknown things. Many incidents of similar nature happen now and then around our sorroundings but we always keep a blind eye.If we learn lessons from these kinds of episodes many disaster sorrounding our families can be avoided.

I pray for the family of the victims. Let Almighty God give them the courage and strength to bear the loss happened to their family.

This is yet another shocking incident that took away a precious life of a young and budding student, apparently who could not swim well. I would be more than surprised if the other three of his friends were good swimmers as well!.

By the way, I had been to a Holiday Resort while I was holidaying in India recently, where there was a large lake and swimming and boating facilities were available for the visitors. A group of eight young students in their early 20`s had come there for an outing, and wanted to have a dip in the lake. But I was shocked to learn that out of the eight, six of them either could not swim or were too scared to get into the water.

This shows how poorly the people, especially the youth, are capable of swimming, and to deal with the dangerous water related situations, and that precisely is the main reason that I wrote an article in the Daijiworld recently (dated July 2, 2011) about the importance of learning swimming. By the way, I would like to convey my heartfelt sorrow and the condolences to the bereaved family.
