Bengaluru, Jun 24: Moments after his resignation flashed all over media, Nalin Kumar Kateel clarified that he has not resigned from the state BJP president’s post.
He said, “I have not resigned for the president post of the state BJP. Whatever is being shown on media is far from reality.”
On V Somanna being an aspirant for next state BJP president post, Nalin said, “I have taken the responsibility for the loss in the state assembly elections. I have informed the party’s senior leaders about the reason behind the loss. I have completed four years as the state BJP president.
“Regarding the next state BJP president appointment, the high command will take decision at the right time. I never said that I will resign to the president’s post. My statement was wrongly understood and hence the news about my resignation was carried by media,” he said.

Ballari, Jun 24: State BJP president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that he has already tendered his resignation for the position of state president of BJP taking on moral responsibility for the defeat of the party in the recently held legislative assembly elections.
This information was given by Nalin in the programme that was held in the city. He also said that his tenure of two years as state BJP president is over and he has resigned and sent written resignation letter to the high command. The competition for the state BJP president position is intense now with senior leader V Somanna staking claim.
Nalin Kumar Kateel said that he tendered resignation on the same day as that of the assembly elections result was announced. However, he did not make it public as per instructions from the high command. However, the rage of BJP workers also was high asking Nalin to resign. Though his tenure was over before the elections, he was asked to continue in wake of the state assembly elections.
Talking on the issue, MLA Dr Ashwath Narayana said, “I am not an aspirant of the state president post of the BJP. Whoever is selected as the state president, we will work unitedly. We are Kannadigas. Let us stop caste politics. If the party gives me responsibility I will shoulder the same.”
Curiosity over the next BJP president is rising within the party. The BJP has two challenges of electing leader of opposition and state BJP president. Names of V Somanna, Ashwath Narayana, C T Ravi and R Ashok are in the forefront.
