Mangaluru, Jun 29: Muslims congregated at famous Idgah Maidan on Light House Hill in city and celebrated Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) with gaiety, devotion and in a spirit of loyalty on Thursday June 29.
Soon after the Namaz, people were seen exchanging the festival greetings, ‘Eid Mubarak’, by embracing one another and shaking hands.
Muslim brethren visit each other's homes during the day, to exchange pleasantries and to show their mutual affection and to share happiness.

Muslims of Udupi district also celebrated Bakrid festival with grandeur.
Special Eid namaz was offered in various mosques of Udupi city, Kaup, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor, Hebri and Karkala taluks. Muslims wore new clothes and offered prayers in the morning. In some mosques provision of separate prayer arrangement was made for women. After the namaz, they exchanged greetings.
In Udupi Jamia mosque, the namaz was led by Moulana Abdurrashid Nadvi. Moulana Inaythullah Razwi led the namaz at Udupi Anjuman mosque.
Namaz prayers at Muloor Juma mosque were led by Khateeb Hafil Mohammed Ashraf Sakafi. Eid procession was taken on the morning from Kundapur Juma mosque and namaz was offered under the leadership of Moulana Karar Hussain. Moulana Shaukath Ali Razwi led the namaz prayers at Madina mosque of Kolambe in Udupi. In Kaup polipu mosque Khateeb Irshad led the namaz prayers.
Moulana Muzammil Nadvi led the namaz prayers at Gangolli Juma mosque, while Moulana Abdul Kareem Nadvi led the namaz prayers at Mohiuddin Juma mosque. Moulana Abdul Matin Siddique led the namaz prayers at Shahi Juma masjid.
Religious leaders gave Eid message to the devotees. Police security was beefed up to prevent any untoward incident.
