Udupi: Mudra retention held in eight Maths

Udupi, Jun 29: Tapthamudra retention for devotees of Krishna Math in Madhav polling stations by Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji was held on June 29.

Religious scholar Vidyasagara Theertha, Pariyaya Krishnapur Math, did the process of mudradarane (sealing). Shrinivas Upadyay preist Krishnapu Math in the presence of Swamiji conducted Sudarshana Homa. Sri Sri Vallabha Theertha Swamiji, Kaniyoor Math, junior priest Eshapriya swamiji, Adamaru Math, Sri Sri Vedavardhana Theertha, Shirror Math got the mudra on their body.

It is believed that Mudradarane will protect from disease during monsoon. After few rituals the seal of conch and wheel are sealed on hands of women and for men both on hands and chest. This will show that they are followers of Vaishnavas. This process is conducted in the beginning of Chathurmasya.

More than thousand devotees got tapthamudra on their body by religious scholars of Krishnapura math, Kaniyoor Math, and Adamaru Math.
