Bangalore, Jul 25: Karnataka Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa who arrived at Bangalore International Airport at 8 am on Monday July 25 spoke briefly to the press, and said that he was hurt by the allegations of phone-tapping levelled against him. After the mining report was leaked to the media, Lokayukta Santosh Hegde had claimed that the state government was tapping his phones too.
"I am open to any enquiry, neither my party nor I can stoop to such low levels and tap Lokayukta's phones. I would appeal to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in this issue and order for enquiry. I invite even opposition leaders to form part of the inquiry committee."
When the media asked about demands for his resignation by the opposition, he blasted the oppostion parties, both Congress and JD(S), for trying to destabilise the government for last three years. "Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy, Siddaramaiah and others have always tried to bring me down, and never supported me in any development programme. I will give all the details about my plans to the media today at 4.30 pm during a press conference," he said.
The CM said that he enjoyed his week-long Mauritius trip, praising Mauritius as a great holiday and tourist destination. He said that he has several plans to develop Mauritius-type tourism spots in Karnataka. He would discuss the idea with the cabinet soon, he added.
