Udupi: Asare celebrates its 15th anniversary

Udupi, Jul 1: Asare, a home for special children with a school and rehabilitation centre for autism and learning disorders, rehabilitation centre celebrated its 15th anniversary on Thursday in Manipal. Asare is a joint project of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education MAHE and Archana Trust.

Chief guest Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor, MAHE, inaugurated the event play area and said, "The concept of ASARE is that specially abled children do not require sympathy or compassion, they want an opportunity to be on their own that is the purpose for which ASARE was created.”

Guest of honour Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, MAHE, said "MAHE will always support for all the activities of Asare."

Akshay M Hakay, IPS, SP, Udupi, inaugurated a mock-up room in ASARE to provide an additional facility which was prepared and seeing the arrangements of Asare, he felt very happy, and he wished the institution and occasional training of ASARE children .

Ramesh Naik, senior special educator, gave the report for the year 2022-2023 of Asare, welcomed the gathering and said, “Asare has been on a mission. We were conceived in 2008 with one goal in mind - to offer support and safety to the especially abled - a mission that we continue to work tirelessly towards.”

During the event, Dhanush sang a song using a mobile special child from Byndoor, and Archana International Athlete Performed Bharatanatyam.

Chief guest of the function, Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor, and vice chancellor Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, MAHE inaugurated Paper Plate Making Machine and expressed their support.

Dr Narayana Sabhahit pro vice chancellor (Technology & Science), Dr N N Sharma pro vice chancellor (Strategy & Planning), Dr P Giridhar Kini registrar, MAHE and allthe MAHE dignitaries were present in the function.

Jai Vittal was the master of the ceremony for the event. Col Prakash Chandra, convenor, ASARE, thanked all those who have contributed to the success of the event. T Ranga Pai, trustee of Asaretrust, delivered the vote of thanks.
