Mangaluru: Kannada Press Day celebrations held

Mangaluru, Jul 1: Police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain inaugurated the Kannada Press Day celebrations organised by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Union and Mangalore Press Club here on Saturday, July 1.

In his inaugural address, Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said, “The press and media in Mangaluru are growing year by year. The propagation of negative information about the Mangaluru district is being controlled by the brand Mangaluru by educating the public.”

Suresh D Palli, a reporter from Hosa Diganta newspaper, and Bharathraj K Sanil, a reporter from Asianet Suvarna News received the Brand Mangaluru award presented by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalist.

The selection was made based on Suresh D Palli's article titled 'Mathe Ondagali Odeda Manasugalu,' published in Hosa Digantha on June 13, 2022, and Bharathraj's report titled 'Hindu Kushalakarmia Kaichalaka Komu Sookshma Mangalurina Sauhardatheya Kathe,' that was telecast on Suvarna news on April 19, 2022.

St Aloysius School art teacher John Chandran exhibited his caricature art.

President of Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Union Srinivas Nayak Indaje welcomed the gathering. General secretary Jitendra Kundeshwara proposed the vote of thanks, Journalist Arif compered the event.
