Kundapur, Jul 10: In a brazen daylight theft, thieves forcibly entered a house near Shirur market by breaking open the backdoor and made off with silver and gold ornaments valued at over three lakhs.

The residents of the house, Rakesh Patagar, a couple who work as teachers, had left for college after lunch. Seizing the opportunity, the thieves took advantage of their absence and gained entry through the backdoor. They made off with various gold ornaments, including a wedding chain weighing 32 grams, earrings weighing 10 grams, 100 grams of silver, and Rs 1,000 in cash.

In a fortunate turn of events, the thieves were startled and had to flee when residents of a neighboring house raised an alarm upon spotting them. It is worth noting that a recent theft in the vicinity amounted to over Rs 35 lacs worth of stolen gold.

The rise in ganja-related activities in Shirur has contributed to an increase in theft incidents. Concerned citizens are urging the police to treat this case with utmost seriousness and take action to curb illegal activities in the area.

It is high time in India that individual home owners and apartment buildings install security cameras and alarms linked to windows and doors to prevent thieves and theft and to deter this type of crime that is on the increase. The Police are more engaged in political activities and security for Politicians and not interested in combing every area during the night and as well in the day, specially in remote area residential areas. You hardly find any policemen on the streets these days Moreover, the thieves, and as well as criminals such as thugs and those Hindu moral policing teams that are growing by the day should be eliminated on the first encounter and not be caught and jailed for free board and lodge till kingdom come and as and when the lethargic Indian judiciary takes 10 to 20 years to convict a thief or a criminal thus utilizing tax money collected from every citizen of India be it thru income or purchase or service that the present government is levying. To eliminate a cockroach, you got to kill it!
