Dubai, Jul 31: ACME Building Material Trading LLC, (ISO 900:2008) promoted by Harish Sherigar, a young entrepreneur from Mangalore, has expanded its business to Ras Al Khaima by opening a new showroom and a warehouse.
Sherigar started his company in UAE in 1999, and his dedication, commitment, and hardwork have brought him success at every step. Nothing has come to him easily as he had to struggled at every stage of his life.
The new showroom and the warehouse will be opened officially on Sunday July 31 at Ras Al Khaima.
Journey of an Ambitious Young Man:
Hailing from Kulshekar in Mangalore, Harish is an alumni of Sri Gokarnanatha College, Mangalore, where he completed his B Com. He was a born leader right from his school days leading his class and the school as a leader early on. His bold leadership quality came to light when he became the president of the college union of Sri Gokarnanatha College in 1988.
After his graduation, he pursued his Diploma in Computer Systems but he chose a different field when he took up employment. Rather than continuing in the IT field, he chose to be an accountant the building materials industry. Since he did not find the accountant job challenging enough, he moved to marketing where he could use his skills effectively.
From 1991 to 1995 he spent his time working as marketing manager at Oman in the same industry and picked up many skills of the trade.
His migration to Dubai was a turning point for Harish though he struggled a lot during his three-year stint as a marketing executive in the building materials field.
“I have seen the best as well as the worst days of my life in Dubai. I had many friends when I was earning well, but I feel my real friends are those who stayed with me when I faced difficulties,” says Harish, who believes that every cloud has a silver lining.
“Just imagine how you might feel when you are newly married with a small kid and no salary,” he says.
“I struggled, believing in hard work and luck. I spent the days with what I had. But everything took a turn for the best later on,” said Harish reminiscing about his past.
When he started his own business in 1999, he did not have money but just the support of a few friends. Working for 16 to 20 hours a day made him feel that his labour would bear fruit in the long run.
“My success in business came only after a major struggle. Once my business picked up I have not looked back,” he says emotionally.
With ACME running successfully, Harish has moved on to the real estate business in Mangalore with his maiden venture ‘Harsha Apartment’ in Kadri at the finishing stage.
His love for his hometown has translated into him hiring people from coastal Karnataka as his staff.
Harish the Singer:
Believing that ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’, Harish has retained his love for music. He is popular as a singer among the community members and music lovers in UAE and back home.
Harish has performed in over 100 shows, social events and stage shows, in India and UAE and is known for his renditions of popular Hindu, Kannada, Tulu songs as well as those in other languages.
His love for art and music has also encouraged him to support several cultural and musical shows in India and the UAE. Be it Konkani, Tulu, or Kannada shows, his support always reaches in terms of sponsorship without considering caste, creed or language, but just to encourage the artistes.
The Family :
Married to Sharmila, Harish has two kids—14-year-old Akshata and 9-year-old Anshul. He owes his success to his family, especially his wife and parents who stood by him during his time of difficulty and share in his success too.
