Bengaluru, Jul 29: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who inspected the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway on Saturday following a series accidents since its opening, has indicated that additional works costing Rs 156.81 crore will be taken up from November to set right the anomalies.

Speaking to media persons after the inspection, he promised to discuss with Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari during his next visit to Delhi on the issue of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) collecting hefty toll charges from users even without completing the entire works.

The Chief Minister said the NHAI must complete several works including service roads and installation of speed detectors and a proposal has been submitted to the Centre.

He said the NHAI authorities to complete the works at Bidadi, Ramanagata, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya, Srirangapatna and other bypass roads besides entry and exit points by March.

Siddaramaiah expressed concern over the rising number of accidents on the Expressway due to the absence of speed detectors.

While there were 20 accidents in June, the number came down in July to 5, he said suggesting that speed detectors must be installed at every 10 kms gap so as to avoid accidents.

He said the Chief Secretary will be shortly convening a meeting with NHAI authorities under his chairmanship to sort out all problems.

To a question on the Udupi video incident, the Chief Minister said the police have already filed an FIR and are investigating. "We will take action as per law,’’ he said.
