India, Tanzania to expand trade

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) India Wednesday pitched for boosting trade with Tanzania when a nine-member Tanzanian parliamentary delegation met Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar.

The delegation comprised members of Tanzania's parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, defence and security.

"India and Tanzania are friendly nations and share common commitment towards democracy and South-South cooperation," said Kumar. "There is a lot of potential for increasing the bilateral trade."

During Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Tanzania in May, India pledged $191 million in lines of credit and grants for a slew of development projects.
