ODI Team Against England: Harbajan Singh Ignored or Injured?

Daijiworld Media Network – Sports

Chennai, Aug 6: As soon as the Indian team for forthcoming ODI series against England was announced, the debate began on the omission of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, two key players of the team.

Krishnamachari Srikkant, the chairman of selection committee has said that, both the Singhs were injured and hence they were not featured on the team. "Yuvraj Singh needs about couple of weeks to recover; he cannot directly comeback to the field as he needs more time to apply himself", he informed.

But what about Bhajji ?

According to the reliable reports, he needs just ten more days to recover from his stomach upset, so how can he be kept out on the grounds of injury?.

It is a clear indication that, Bhajji has been dropped from the team due to poor performance in the England series. He was a failure in both the tests in England and failed to trouble the English batsmen.

Yuvraj’s omission due to injury ground can be trusted, because he did well in the second test, after coming back from IPL break. He scored 50 plus n the first innings. Moreover, his performance in World Cup itself is the treasure for him to retain his place in Indian ODI team.

But Dravid's inclusion has mixed opinion among the cricket experts. While a section of cricket pundits have welcomed the decision, defending his ability to bat in England pitches especially on short-pitch balls. But, others have criticized his inclusion, as the place should have been given to some of the young player since Dravid is already in his Closure of cricketing career. "Though he can play well in England, and short-pitch balls, he was not a great success when he was called two years back in South Africa for Champions trophy. He was called on the same ground in South Africa in 2009.

Team India for ODIs Against England :

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Parthiv Patel.

Harbajan Singh is ignored or injured..both reasons are good for India.Nowadays he thinks himself as batsman. When he could not take wickets in Trent Bridge test, press was informed that he had muscle catching problem in stomach. But he hit 47 runs with 7 fours and a six in second innigs with stomach problem! Amit Mishra classic leg spinner is simply sitting and watching in dressig room.R.Ashwin was not picked up for tests! One thing is sure,if Bhajji had come from south,he would have been playing Ranji matches by this time!Anyway we can't forget his contribution to Cricket world.400 TEST wickets is not a joke. But because of past glory one can't be ed everytime.

In India's Cricket point of view this is the right decision and BCCI has given him lot of chances to prove him as well. Performers are waiting for their chances and nothing wrong in omitting him from the squad. Debate will go on and on and on. There is no end for the critics.

Bhajji as you call him is one who boasts himself as a joker. Indian selectors should have dropped him long back, since he does not have the guts nor ability to bowl without Anil Kumble besides him. He has been pampered so much he should be not be recalled again. youngsters like Ojha, Kulkarni and others should be tried. High time Indians bid farewell to him right now then hamper the progress of some youngsters future.

Exclusion of Harbachhan sing from one day squad is a correct decision, be it on health grounds or his poor form. In a way, it is a good omen for India. Of late, Bhajji's performance has gone from bad to worse.
