Bengaluru, Aug 18: Interim rain and drop in temperature is affecting health of citizens. Epidemics are on the rise in the state.

Health department informed that there is a rise of 22% of dengue cases in the state compared to 2022. Dr Mahmood Sharif said that Dengue cases are on the rise in BBMP limits. Around 60% of cases are reported from east, south and Mahadevapura zones of the city of Bengaluru.

In addition to Bengaluru, dengue cases are on the rise at Mysuru (353), Vijayapura (146), Shivamogga (155), Dakshina Kannada (110), Udupi (126) and Belagavi (135).

Last year four people died of dengue. Every year around 400 million people suffer dengue infection worldwide as per report. Covid reduced immunity in children. That is why dengue is seen more in young children.

In order to prevent the infection of dengue, people should take care that water does not get accumulated in and around the houses. Mosquito repellents and nets have to be used to prevent mosquito bites. It is advisable to wear full sleeve clothing. If fever, sore nose, head ache and body aches are noticed, doctors’ consultation should be taken immediately.

BBMP special commissioner said that monitoring is beefed up in hospitals, schools and temple to study the severity of the cases and also to identify new viruses.
