Bantwal, Aug 21: State level officials on Monday, August 21, visited the godown to conduct an inspection where thousands of quintals of rice supplied by Food Corporation of India's meant for distribution to ration card holders under the public distribution system (PDS) at Thalapadi on B C Road had gone missing.
A case was also filed with the Bantwal town station to conduct a probe into misappropriation of rice worth crores of rupees by the district-level officials of food and civil supplies office.
On the basis of the complaint and on the basis of the complaint given by MLA Rajesh Naik to the deputy commissioner and also on the basis of allegations of large-scale malpractice, Deputy Commissioner Mugilan and SPCB Rishyant visited and inspected the godown.
In this case, the district level officials visited the place and the deputy commissioner instructed the officals to take suitable action. Later, he said that he will get a clearer picture after the investigation is over.
Accordingly, Prasanna Kumar, general manager of KFCSC, district-level officer Anuradha visited the place and conducted an inspection.
Tahsildar S B Koodalagi and SI Ramakrishna of town police station were also present on the occasion.
