Mangaluru, Sep 11: Outraged residents of Guru Kambal have voiced their frustration over the deplorable state of the road leading to the Peerzade Hazrat Asraruddin Auliya Dargah, which has remained neglected for a quarter of a century. They are now urging their elected representatives to take concrete action to address the road's deteriorating condition.
The tar road leading to the Peerzade Hazrat Asraruddin Auliya darga was originally constructed 25 years ago, during the tenure of the then MLA Ramanath Rai and former zilla panchayat president Krishna Amin. Today, the road, stretching over 1.5 kilometers, has deteriorated significantly, riddled with potholes and in dire need of repair. Despite continuous appeals to their MLAs and elected representatives, the residents have seen no improvement.
Locals recalled that former MLA Mohiuddin Bava had shown some concern and worked towards concreting the road leading up to the Darga, but the remaining 1.5-kilometer stretch has remained untouched. Furthermore, the road lacks adequate street lighting and drainage facilities, further adding to the residents' grievances. They have warned of staging protests if their demands are not met promptly.
Expressing disappointment over the neglect of their area's development over the past 25 years, T M Irfan, the former president of Paduperera panchayat, stated, "There are over 100 houses located in Guru Kambal, but the road leading to the area is in a deplorable condition. We demand the immediate concreting of the road."
Present at the scene were Guru Shah Mohammed and Aboobakker, along with other supporters of the cause.
