Udupi, Sep 20: The approval was granted for a protest meeting planned in the leadership of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi in the Kukkundoor gram panchayat limits on September 24 urging for justice into the murder of Soujanya. Dharmasthala Hitarakshana Samithi has written to the SP requesting him to get an undertaking that there will be no derogatory and inciting talk against Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and follow the high court dictate.

Hitarakshana Samithi leader Mahesh Tuppekallu speaking to reporters in the deputy commissioner’s office after submitting the appeal said that derogatory statements against Dharmastala temple are in progress relentlessly in the district violating high court orders. “The district administration and the police department have failed to take action. Well-wishers of Dharmasthala are in lacs. A question comes if law and order should be affected if such programmes should stop. It is not possible to say when lacs of well-wishers of Dharmasthala bounce back. The district administration should avoid situations of unrest,” he said.

SP Dr Arun K assured after receiving the request that the department will act according to the high court orders. Hundreds of Dharmasthala well-wishers were present.
