Udupi: NCC Naval cadets take part in open sea sailing training programme

Udupi, Sep 20: NCC Naval cadets who are participating in ocean sailing expedition by Mangaluru Naval NCC unit took part in open sea sailing in the deep sea near Malpe Beach on Tuesday, September 19.

Additional DC Mamatha Devi set the programme in motion and gave her message. 72 cadets under the guard of mechanised rescue boats took up the adventure under guidance from camp commander Claudy Lobo.

A cleanliness drive was also held under the Punith Sagar campaign at Malpe Beach on Monday, September 18. A street play was also staged to create social awareness.

Former MLA K Raghupathi Bhat conducted flag-off programme and gave his message on Wednesday. Coastal police SP Amshu Kumar and camp commandant commander Claudy Lobo were present.

The ocean sailing camp is being held at Udupi Udyavar Hinneer under the aegis of Mangaluru Naval NCC unit from September 13 to 22. As many as 72 NCC Naval cadets of six units from Karnataka and Goa are obtaining training in sailing in the camp.
