It is a matter of great regret that Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada which were once peaceful areas have now fallen prey to thieves. This the result of fast growth and the present police force we have in Mangalore and the suburbs is not adequate to handle the crime. No doubt we have excellent officers in Mr. Alok Mohan - The I.G.P., Mr. Seemanth Singh - The commissioner and Mr. Labu Ram - The S.P. They should be provided with sufficient number of policemen to enable them to handle the situation and keep it under control. In any case it is a matter of time before the culprits are identified and booked.

Burglars are getting bolder & bolder in DK now. This particular case seems to be the handiwork of professional burglars seeing the way they have opened the shutters by digging out the foundation of the eye bolt of the rolling shutters and gained entry! As the price of gold/silver has risen to stratospheric heights it is worth a risk for the robbers even if they lay their hands on a couple of 100 gms. I wonder why these shop owners do not take burglary insurance! In Mumbai most of the bigger shops and even banks have burglary insurance to cover for such unprecedented events!

While issuing the trade licence for the shops like jewellery the concerned authorties should make sure the security system like burglars alarm and the intruders alarms sholuld be connected to the police stations at the same time police patrolling also should be intensified,by doing so at least we can minmize the robbery cases.
