Mangaluru: Police commissioner holds rowdy parade, issues stern warning

Mangaluru, Oct 12: Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal conducted a parade of active rowdies at the city's police parade ground on Thursday, October 12.

A total 262 active rowdies were produced before the police commissioner by the concerned ACPs. The rowdies were advised to give up the life of crime and join the mainstream as law abiding citizens.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner gave a warning that strict action would be taken against them if they indulge themselves in any criminal activity.

Sidharth Goyal, IPS, DCP (law & order), B P Dinesh Kumar DCP (crime & traffic), all the ACPs and police inspectors of the concerned police station were present.

    Knowing that our Police are aware of the criminal activities within our city and surrounding areas - is a good feeling. If I may add more to the action - the Governmental agencies must come forward and instill in these lawless cadres some kind of discipline; not by punishing but by involving them in the social circles under the eyes of the lawful authorities. This can come only when they are guided, trained and employed responsibly within the society assuring them that they belong to us and not outcasts. Guide them in such a way that they realize that crime is a cancer and it cannot be healed.

    Best solution to the isscould be rehabilitation of these men. Give them a technical trade for them to servive or employ them atleat on contract basis. What ur doing is a temporary solution Sir. Best option could be send them to army trading camps n later induct them

    This kind of parade by the police is indicative of corruption background .. Without going after the real criminals in the background .These rowdies often do not create social unrest. They simply carry a lot of ego and run after maintaining that status. Mostly after Javanathigedha JOSH . There was another DCP who was singing songs and carrying such stunts in the public in the past . The silent and honest ones are already transferred ..

    I find it very bad from Police side to parade them .Whoever and whatever they are ,should be respected them ,and not parade .If needed punish them ,but not like this like animals.Give to each of them their due respect .We too dont like to be paraded like this.Police too are not best ones .They too go out of the way like accepting money which is not allowed ,or beat them which is not allowed.Do they think if paraded ,will be better?

    I don't understand why so many disagrees for your comment. I fully agree with your views. Every new police commissioner being appointed here in Mangalore wants to display his spine by parading rowdy sheeters. They too are human beings, treat them as humans.

    This kind of parading happens only and south canara and udupi districts because people are law abiding and doesn't make issues or fought it out. I suggest govt. should parade corrupt police officials which will be lesson for them.

    Circumstances beyond their control (possibly) could be one of the/main reason why these guys choose rowdism. Not everybody is born with a gold spoon. Covid is also the biggest scourge of it all having rendered so many of these guys unemployed. We will never know. Police do not have any right whatsoever to heckle these people and treat them as rowdies. If police can behave like rowdies, these guys will not be far following their footsteps.

    Hi Rita You do have a point. exposing these elements may make them more arrogant. Force should be used only as a last resort. But incorporating them into the society through social programs will certainly help these guys to recognize their true status and perhaps help them change their aptitude and attitude. I have seen this happen in a place like Dubai. Prisoners come out with changed behaviour and with a trained mindset. We can do the same.

    Hi Alphonso d S;Bendur.;I got your point.Thank you ,we cant compare Dubai and India.There they have to change .no other option in that country.Here what Police are doing with common man is just impossible.They make even in other circumstances people very downtrotten.That I dont like.I only wish they shouldnt parade one person in public.When he comes out and one recognise him they make fun .Thatswhy I say treat each one of them as a individuell ,respect them .Not parade them as animals.

    These are only ones without money or influence. With money power, similar rowdies are elected to be law makers and dictate to the police.

    Which court has adjudicated them as rowdies. Many of them look like law abiding citizens. Under what provision of law the police is holding such a parade and why action against the police can't be taken for holding such a unlawful parade?
