Beltangady, Oct 18: In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old schoolboy lost his life while crossing the road after being hit by a pick up vehicle.

Mohammed Ramzeen (10), son of Mohammed Rafik, residing at Arhila, Paranki village, Belthangady had come to the house of his relatives as he had a holiday. He had gone to a shop at 11.50 am on Wednesday and was crossing the road near Laila junction when the pick up vehicle approaching from Ujire towards Beltangady rammed him. He was thrown on to the road and he suffered serious injuries due to the impact of the accident.

He was rushed with the help of locals to the Beltangady government hospital and then to a hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. But the young boy died on the way.

A case against pick up driver, Venur resident Jaya has been registered at Beltangady traffic police station in this connection.
