Manav Gohil to play cop in 'Dabangii…': 'It's not just about projecting bravado'

Mumbai, Oct 25 (IANS): Actor Manav Gohil, who is known for his work in shows like 'Kkusum', 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' and 'Manshaa', will portray the role of an uniformed inspector for the first time in his career, in the show 'Dabangii... mulgii aayi re aayi'.

The show's narrative is rich in emotions and highlights intricate relationships and hidden secrets.

The show is anchored by a young protagonist, 'Arya' (essayed by Mahi Bhadra), who is on a quest to reunite with her father.

Arya believes that her father is a super cop and is away on a mission, which is why she has never met him, but she is unaware of her true lineage.

Manav describes 'Dabangii..Mulgii aayi re aayi' as a unique story of two contrasting ideologies, that of his amoral brother, Satya (Aamir Dalvi) and his steadfastly moral approach to life that collides with Arya taking centre stage.

Inspector Ankush Rajyavadhkar is unknowingly the physical manifestation of Arya's imagination, and it will be interesting for viewers to witness how their lives are intertwined.

Talking about his character, Manav said: "Ankush is intense, straightforward, and unwavering in his dedication to fight corruption. He despises liars and cheaters."

"Though I have portrayed a police officer on screen before, this is the first time I'm playing a police officer in uniform, and it's a significant departure from my previous role in CID, where I played a different kind of cop," he shared.

Gohil elaborated on his character development process, saying, "I immersed myself in the character by studying the script, including narrations, while trying to understand the emotions of the various characters and their motives in the overall story.”

"This is one of those rare scripts that has such well-defined character arcs weaved into the plot. I realised that this role is not just about projecting bravado and a muscular appearance; it's about capturing the depth of emotions that Ankush experiences, especially when he must go against his own blood brother," he said.

The 'Remix' actor added: "I've added subtle nuances to the character, which, when combined with the police officer in uniform, truly transforms the game. I'm excited about the journey ahead with Ankush."

'Dabangii...Mulgii aayi re aayi' promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions, where Manav's portrayal of Ankush will undoubtedly leave audiences at the edge of their seats.

It will premiere from October 30 on Sony.
