Kundapura, Oct 30: More than 400 students studying in Byndoor Government First Grade College do not enjoy bus facility resulting in large-scale absenteeism among the students.

The college has been in existence since the last 40 years. Due to lack of bus facilities, the students of this college walk their way to attend to their classes daily.

Principal of the college Nagaraj Shetty and College Board have brought this matter to the notice of MLA Gururaj Gantihole and the problems faced by the students in reaching the college on time.

MLA Gantiholi had assured the students and the college management of looking into the issue and solve their problems.

Students and the faculty felt that like any other elected representative, this assurance carried no value. But, MLA Gantihole has brought this matter to the notice of Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and made it known to transport department officials as well.

Within a month of accepting the MLA's submission, starting October 30 bus service to Byndoor Government Degree College has been started.

Says Akshatha, a II BA student of the college, "We were facing a lot of difficulties during the rainy monsoon due to lack of bus services. We are extremely happy that the bus service is now made available for us."

Rohan, III BA student of the college has thanked the MLA and transport department officials for introducing the bus service for the first time in 40 years.

Suharshini, a II BA student said, "Due to the introduction of bus service, we can now concentrate on our studies."

Amendra, a BBA student said, "Attendance in degree classes had come down due to lack of bus facility. Moreover, the college exists in rural region. Following the introduction of bus service facility, students will get encouraged to pursue their higher education."

Lecturer Mohan Kumar thanked all the authorities on the occasion. Some of the old students of the college were also present on the occasion.
