Udupi, Oct 31: For Vasanthalakshmi Hebbar (1960-2022), living was an art and art was her life. She started experimenting in various art forms like music, dance, painting and Yakshagana during her college years. With the unexpected demise of her daughter Ranjani (who was a star in the field of Carnatic music) in 2013 she turned to painting for solace. She explored oil, acrylic and pencil drawings using various tools like brushes, knives and scalpel and focused on areas like scenery, portrait, thematic, modern paintings etc.

For a long time, she was self-taught. However, under the guidance of Ramesh Rao of Drishya School, the artist inside her flourished. At the age of 57, she received further guidance for painting from Sharmila Gupte of Mumbai.

In celebration of her life and talent, we are organizing 'Vasantha Kala', an exhibition of her art works. This is a loving tribute to a noble soul. About seventy art works would be on display.

Dr Kiran Acharya, managing trustee of Aditi Gallery, Aravinda Hebbar, Rajmohan Varamballi from Ranjani Memorial Trust, in a press release informed that the Vasantha Kala art exhibition would be inaugurated on November 1 at 10.30 am, at Aditi Gallery, Udupi by artist Ramesh Rao and artist Sharmila Gupte. The exhibition remains open from 11 am to 8 pm.
