Udupi, Nov 2: Minister of women’s and children’s development, empowerment of specially abled and senior citizens and Udupi district in-charge minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has been appointed as the chief sponsor of Udupi Srikrishna Math Puthige Paryaya Samithi. The
appointment was made during the preliminary meeting of the Paryaya samithi held at the mutt on Wednesday.

The minister said that complete support will be provided by the state government and the district administration for the event. “The district administration will be holding a preliminary meeting in this connection during my next visit to Udupi,” she said.

“Lord Krishna has bestowed on me the opportunity to participate in the Paryayotsava. Puthige Math has become famous in India and abroad. Hindu culture is great. It is our duty to preserve and make it grow. Puthige Shree is spreading our culture on foreign land,” she said.

“Let us participate in the Paryayotsava without involving any politics into it. Let us make all the arrangements for devotees arriving from India and abroad. As Puthige samithi has appointed me as the chief sponsor, I will work according to the position,” she said.

Puthige Maha Diwan Nagaraj Acharya, Paryaya welcome committee president and former MLA Raghupati Bhat, welcome committee chief secretary Devi Prasad Shetty Belapu, welcome committee treasurer Ranjan Kalkura and Prasad Kanchan were present.
