Udupi: State level under-14 boys, girls’ sports meet inaugurated

Udupi, Nov 2: Three-day state level sports meet for under 14 boys and girls, organized by district administration, zilla panchayat, school education department and St Cecily’s s school Udupi was inaugurated on Wednesday.

Head teacher of St Cecily’s high school Sr Preeti J Crasta inaugurated the meet along with sports persons. Jayaprakash Hegde, president of Karnataka state backward communities commission, received guard of honour from the athletes. Vicar of Udupi Mother of Sorrows church Chales Menezes extended good wishes.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna, DC Dr K Vidya Kumar, ZP CEO Prasanna H, Udupi block education officer Dr Ashok Kamath, district physical education officer Gopal Shetty H, Joint secretary of St Cecily’s group of institutions, Sr Teresa Jyoti, Member of St Cecily’s parent-teacher association Sohail Amin, physical education teacher Edwin Mendonca and Dinesh Kumar were present.

Mijo Chacko of Moodbidri Alva’s educational institutions, who won medal in Asian games was felicitated on the occasion. Deputy director of school education Ganapaty K welcomed the gathering. Student Shalika and Satish Shetty compered the event.

A huge procession was held from Mother of Sorrows Church to Ajjarakad Mahatma Gandhi stadium. Local Janapada team, cultural teams gave more glitz to the procession.
