Udupi: Provide suitable land to victims of ISPRL 2nd stage project – Vinay Kumar Sorake

Udupi, Nov 3: Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has urged the government to try and provide suitable land to victims who are losing their land due to ISPRL second stage project.

He said that ISPRL second stage crude oil storage unit is an ambitious project of the union government. “The concerned people should act on providing suitable land to those who are losing land for the project,” he said.

He said that some business minded people are trying to mislead the district administration instead of identifying the land that is suitable for the victims. “The matter should be considered seriously. Are violations keeping the genuine victims aside without asking their opinions and portraying unknown people as the victims justifiable? There is suitable land in gram panchayat limits. It is better to identify sites, take the victims into confidence and rehabilitate them there. The proper decisions should be taken in this connection,” he said.

“Thousands of acres of land are acquired by Suzlon company through SEZ organization for another prestigious project at Nandikoor. It is unfortunate that the company currently facing financial hurdles is joining with real estate businessmen and selling the land. There are thousands of families without houses and shelter nearby. It is sad that Suzlon company has acquired the land without thinking about the people around and has become a business center. The concerned people should look into it,” he urged.
