Kundapur, Nov 3: A family, residents of Bengaluru and ardent devotees of Kollur Mookambika Devi, were fleeced by a resident of Kollur to the tune of Rs 30.73 lac on the pretext of getting special pooja done in the temple.

The accused is identified as Sudhir Kumar. Dilna, a resident of Bengaluru had been to Kollur temple with her husband and family members. Sudhir Kumar, who knew Dileesh, elder brother of Dilna, made the family believe that he is the member of the administrative committee of the temple and asked them to put money for special pooja. In addition, Sudhir Kumar, it is alleged, promised to get the Khata transferred of the land belonging to mother of Dilna. The family transferred Rs 30.73 lac to Sudhir’s account.

When accused Sudhir asked signature of Dilna’s mother for change of Khata of land, she got suspicious and inquired in the temple about Sudhir Kumar. She came to know that Sudhir is not a member of the administrative committee. A complaint in this regard is filed in Kollur police station.
