9X launches Punjabi music channel

New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) Channel 9X has forayed into the regional music scene with the launch Tuesday of a Punjabi music channel - 9X Tashan - which will have a balanced dose of music and quirky humour for its viewers.

"Our commitment to offer super hit music and humour to our viewers continues with 9X Tashan. The Channel will offer a wholesome dose of entertainment to Punjabi music aficionados. It will air the latest and best Punjabi music across all genres - pop, romance, action and folk," said Punit Pandey, senior vice president and business head, 9XMedia group, in a statement.

Just like 9XM, the Punjabi music channel will also show animated comedy.

"It will also be interspersed with rib-tickling short episodes of characters created in 3D animation. We plan to create a loyal viewer following with our animated characters similar to that of 9XM," said Pandey.

The music channel will be available across satellite and cable. It will also be streamed live on the channel's website www.9xtashan.in.

Sandip Bansal, managing director of 9X Tashan, said: "We are pleased to partner with 9X media group and launch a channel that combines the traditional and modern sounds coupled with the vibrant colours of Punjab."
