Tusshar Kapoor gets Rs 5-cr extortion threat; police suspect hoax

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 3: Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor has reportedly received an extortion threat from an individual claiming to be Harry Boxer, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who demanded Rs 5 crore from him.

Kapoor informed the Mumbai Police about the threatening call, following which the investigation was handed over to the Anti-Extortion Cell and the Crime Branch.

The Crime Branch examined the audio recording of the call and compared the voice with an official audio sample of Harry Boxer available in its database. However, according to senior police sources, the voices did not match.

The mismatch has raised suspicions that the call may have been a hoax or that someone had used the gang's name to intimidate the actor.

Police are now trying to identify the person who sent the audio recording. No FIR has been registered in the matter so far. Kapoor had reportedly lodged the complaint around a week ago.
