Mangalore, Aug 31: The police personnel attached to Bajpe station raided an illegally run make-shift slaughterhouse and arrested two persons, besides taking 12 heads of cattle into possession. The slaughterhouse was located within a compound in Sooralpady, Badagulipady near Bajpe.
Anwar (40), and Mohammed (48), were arrested. Reportedly all the cattle, nine cows, two calves, and a buffalo, had been stolen. During the raid, 20 kg beef, severed head of a cow, a cow pelt, and two machetes were recovered from the spot.
It is gathered that Shariff, Mohammed Riaz and Krishna, who were engaged in preparing beef at the site, ran away to safety during the raid. The accused were remanded to judicial custody till September 13 on being produced in a court here.
