Udupi, Sep 5: A number of passengers as well as drivers of two buses, which got involved with an accident at Balaipade here on the night of Saturday September 3, are recovering at a private hospital in the town.
The accident occurred between a private Volvo bus moving towards Udupi, and a service bus going towards Kaup from the town. Over 17 persons were injured in the accident out of which 13 are in the hospital.
Traffic was affected for a couple of hours at the spot because of the accident. The Volvo bus swerved away from the road due to the impact of the accident, and stopped with a tilt to one side, after hitting an electric pole. Service bus also suffered partial damages in the accident.
On a complaint filed by a passenger named Vedavati Moily, a case of reckless driving was registered in the town police station against the driver of the Volvo bus.
