Bengaluru, Dec 9: Former state JDS president C M Ibrahim as well as JDS National vice President C K Nanu of Kerala have been expelled from JDS for anti-party activities by the JDS supremo H D Deve Gowda on Saturday, December 9.

Ibrahim was Congress MLC and had resigned from the party as well as his Legislative Council membership to join JDS and was immediately made the state party chief. He, however, had opposed the JDS joining the BJP-led NDA. The party had first dissolved the entire state party executive following the alliance with BJP and subsequently, Ibrahim was suspended from the party. Finally, the former Prime Minister and JDS National President has announced Ibrahim’s expulsion from the party.

The JDS supremo, who had convened a special national executive meeting of the party in which all JDS members from other states as well as state party presidents, authorized Deve Gowda to take disciplinary action against Ibrahim for claiming to be the 'Real JDS' and totally opposing the alliance with BJP.

Announcing the expulsion of Ibrahim and Nanu from the party, Deve Gowda said the two persons had opposed the JDS decision to align with BJP and join NDA besides carrying out anti-party activities, tarnishing the party’s image.

"We have taken an unanimous decision to expel the two persons from JDS," Deve Gowda said.

Mandya district JDS chief D Ramesh proposed a resolution for the expulsion of Ibrahim from the party while West Bengal JDS chief Punit Kumar Singh moved a resolution for the expulsion of C K Nanu of Kerala from the party. Both the resolutions were unanimously adopted by the national executive, Gowda said.
