Mangalore, Sep 8: In the wake of the terror attack in Delhi on Wednesday September 7 that left 11 dead and 76 injured, security agencies in Mangalore undertook massive security checks at selected points.

The fact that immersion ceremony of Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava, which was under way at Nehru Maidan in the city since the last one week, was to be held late evening on Wednesday, also kept the policemen on the toes.

Bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs moved around service strategic locations like service bus stand, KSRTC bus stand, railway station, district court, Bunder area and other vulnerable points like malls. The vigil was continued through the night till the immersion procession concluded.
