Mumbai, Sep 8 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities markets was trading on a weak note soon after opening bell Thursday, a day after rallying past the 17,000-mark.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 17,118.08 points, was ruling at 17,016.86 points, down 42.84 points or 0.25 percent from its previous close at 17,065 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lower, 0.21 percent down at 5,113.75 points.
The BSE midcap index was, however, trading with moderate gains, up 0.35 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.43 percent higher.
