Mangaluru: Karnataka Adidravida convention advocates for Tulu-speaking communities' needs

Mangaluru, Dec 24: The Karnataka State Adidravida Social Service Union (R) organized the State Adidravida Convention 2023, providing a platform to address the needs of Tulu-speaking Adidravida communities. The event took place on Sunday, Dec 24, at the Town Hall in Mangaluru.

Prominent figures, including Ivan D'Souza, former MLC; Vedvyas Kamath, MLA of Mangaluru South; Harish Poonja, MLA of Beltangady; Shudheer Shetty Kannur, Mayor of Mangaluru; Bhagirathi Murulya, MLA of Sullia; Sudheer Kankanady, former president of Adidravida Social Service Union; and Premanand Shetty, former Mayor of Mangaluru, along with other members associated with Adidravida Samaja Seve, attended the program.

Vedvyas Kamath assured the gathering, stating, "I have noted down the requirements, and I will present these issues in Vidhana Soudha. This is a special and successful program, and I wish everyone great success. Many people have gathered here, and I extend my wishes that all your requirements are fulfilled. Society should not forget its cultural roots and traditions, and we should not compare communities with each other. I wish that all such programs that will be organized should become successful."

Furthermore, Kamath announced, "I have allocated 10 lakhs for this cause, and I will provide an additional 20 lakhs very soon."

He emphasized, "The world is changing, and things are getting better with time. All people of Adidravida Samaja should utilize what's given by the government."

Ivan D'Souza, former leader of the ruling party, assured the audience that he would take these matters to the Chief Minister. He addressed the issues faced by Tulu-speaking Adidravida people and expressed his commitment to their cause. He also highlighted that the Chief Minister of Karnataka has allocated funds for SC/ST people in the budget and vowed to take strict action against officers attempting to misuse these funds.

Sudheer Shetty Kannur echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the event aimed to address the requirements of Adidravida Samaja. He expressed confidence that the leaders from various parties coming together for this cause would lead to the resolution of the community's problems. Kamath's promise to address the matter in Vidhan Soudha and D'Souza's commitment to discuss the issues with the Chief Minister were highlighted as positive steps toward resolving the concerns of the Adidravida community.
