M'lore: MV Shetty College of Physiotherapy Holds Blood Donation Camp at Wenlock

A blood donation camp was held to mark ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ at Government Wenlock Hospital here on Friday September 9.
 
Regional Transport Officer (RTO) C Mallikarjun inaugurated the function on Friday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the efforts of Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy in organizing this camp. Mallikarjun added that traffic accidents are a sad possibility and hence blood banks can prove to be a great asset in protecting human life.
 
Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy principal Dr Susan Varghese, in her introductory address, said that blood donation is a golden opportunity to serve society and this facility should also be held in rural areas.
 
Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust secretary Dr M Ramgopal Shetty presided over the programme.
 
He said that there was no blood bank in Wenlock Hospital till 2002, and setting up one has helped serve the patients in a better way.
 
Wenlock Hospital DMO in-charge Dr Erappa, in his keynote address, said that earlier people were scared of blood donation and hence it was difficult but now more than 1 lac people come forward for this noble cause. “This is one of the best blood banks in the state as no cash is involved,” he added.
 
Sports Fitness Training Federation of India (SFTFI) general secretary Dr Mohammed Suhail proposed the vote of thanks.
 
SFTFI organizing secretary Dr U T Iftikar Fareed was also present on the occasion.
