Mangalore, Sep 10: The city traffic police locked a vehicle of the city corporation that was found parked on the evening of Friday September 9 in front of Manasa Towers near PVS Junction. The car was parked in no parking zone, and it was obstructing traffic.
It has come to light that the car belonged to health officer of the city corporation, Manjaiah Shetty. Initially, the traffic police, who were passing by, noticed the road rule violation, and tried to find out the driver of the vehicle by calling out. As no one came in response to their efforts for five minutes, they locked the tyre of the car, pasted a notice on it, and left.
Manjaiah Shetty returned to his car at around 5.45 pm, and found what had happened. He then contacted the traffic police. The traffic police released the lock after imposing a fine of Rs 100 on Manjaiah Shetty, at around 6.15 pm.
