Mangalore: Good Rains in Udupi, Less in Dakshina Kannada

Mangalore, Sep 10: Sporadic rainfall amidst dominant sunshine was the climatic feature witnessed in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday September 9. However, Udupi district registered higher rainfall, both on Thursday night, and Friday.

While normal rainfall was witnessed in Beltangady, Sullia and Puttur, the rainfall was meagre in the city and surrounding areas. Good rainfall was registered in Kundapur and Karkala taluks on Friday afternoon.

Udupi registered eight cm of rain, highest in the state, while the other coastal regions accounted for around four cm on an average. The rainfall remained lower in Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts too.

A release by the meteorological department said that most parts of the state’s coast and a couple of places in northern hinterland are expected to receive rains during the period ending Sunday morning.
