Davangere: Soldier Loses Life During Immersion Procession

Davangere, Sep 10: In a sad development that occurred during the immersion procession of Lord Ganesha idol that was taken out at Santhebennur in Channagiri taluk in the district on the evening of Friday September 9, a soldier lost his life.

He has been identified as Anjinappa (27). He was a soldier of Indian Army posted at Jammu-Kashmir since the last seven years. He had come home on vacation a few days back. He was to go back by the end of this month.

When the idol, installed at Vinayaka Nagar in Santhe Bennur, was placed on a decorated tractor, and was being taken in a procession to Bhadra canal for immersion, Anjinappa suddenly came under the wheels of the tractor and was crushed. A case in this respect was registered in Santhebennur police station.
