Tumkur: Tractor Plunges into River, Six Killed, 15 Injured

Tumkur, Sep 12: 
Six people were killed and at least 15 injured when a tractor plunged into a river near Ramalingapura of Shira taluk of Tumkur district on Monday September 12.

Initial reports stated that four had perished, but sometime later, the toll climbed to six.

It is said that passengers in the tractor visited Mylaralingeshwara temple and were on their way back. When the tractor reached a spot near a river in Ramalingapura, its tyre burst and the driver lost control.

There are possibilities of an increase in the death toll, it is said. There were about 35 passengers travelling in the tractor.

Police and fire squad rushed to the spot and rescue operations are on.
