Udupi, Jan 4: The globally acclaimed Udupi Paryaya is back, and this time, Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sripada of Puttige Math, one of the Ashta Maths, is set to perform the Krishna Puja. Puttige Sripada, known for propagating Sanatan Hinduism both in India and abroad, establishing temples and maths in several Western countries, will visit the Paryaya Peetha for the fourth time.
Extensive preparations are in their final stages for the Udupi Puttige Paryaya, which Puttige Sripada has named Vishwa Gita Paryaya. Special projects, such as Koti Gitalekhanayagna to popularize the Bhagavad Gita, have been planned. The Puttige Reception Committee has given special attention to city decorations, including electric lighting along the route from Dandatheertha to Udupi and throughout the city.
This time, the Paryaya is themed as Vishwa Gita Paryaya, and special emphasis is placed on city beautification. The Puttige Reception Committee invites households within 10 km of Udupi to host Paryaya guests by registering with the committee. A unique plan aims to provide proper hospitality to all attendees.
As a prelude to the Paryaya, road asphalting in the city is in its final stage, and patching of potholes on K M Marg, linking LIC road, Sanskrit College road, and Masjid road, is ongoing. The Kinnimulki reception dome and municipal office are undergoing painting at a cost of Rs 10 lac. Construction of welcome arches for city beautification is progressing, with 22 reception halls planned. Work on the welcome arch from Jodukatte to Diana Circle is in progress, and more than 40 workers are engaged in various projects.

Puttige Math's Vishwa Gita Paryaya introduces a unique initiative under the leadership of Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sripada to spread the message of Bhagavad Gita worldwide. People worldwide are invited to write 700 verses of Bhagavad Gita in any language and dedicate the book to Sri Krishna in Udupi, receiving it as Krishna Prasad.
In celebration of Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji's golden jubilee of monkhood in 2024, a proposal to dedicate the Suvarna Gita Ratha, also known as the Parthasarathi Ratha, to Sri Krishna during his Paryaya has been made.
Accommodation arrangements for thousands of devotees visiting Udupi's holy shrine for darshan of Puttige Shri Pada have been initiated, along with the renovation of Gita Mandir under the project "Kshetra Vasa."
Sripada has also undertaken the vow of Gita chanting from January 19, 2024, to January 16, 2026, from 6 am to 6 pm every day, welcoming teams worldwide to participate.
A legend holds that Shri Madhvacharya entered Udupi from the north gate before installing the idol of Krishna. In line with this, Sripada plans to construct a "Madhvesha Vritta" featuring an image of Madhvacharya holding the idol of Shri Krishna and entering the Krishna Math premises.
As the countdown to the fourth Paryaya of Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sripada begins, Krishna Nagari Udupi is fully prepared to welcome the new Paryaya Sripada.
