Maharashtra Governor flags off Mumbai Marathon, lyricist Gulzar among 60,000 participants

Mumbai, Jan 21: Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais flagged off the Tata Mumbai Marathon elite race from opposite the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus here on Sunday, January 21.

The governor also flagged off the Champions with Disabilities Race, a race for the physically challenged persons, and the senior citizens’ run on the occasion. Lyricist Gulzar participated in the senior citizen’s run on the occasion.

 

Maharashtra’s ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Deepak Kesarkar were present. Legislator Ashish Shelar, Flag Officer, Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command, Vice Admiral Sanjay Singh, GOC in C, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa area Maj Gen H S Kahlon, municipal commissioner I S Chahal, organisers of the event Vivek Singh and officials were present.

According to the organizers, 60,000 persons participated in this year’s marathon.
